According to Xinhuanet.com Apr.22 from France (by journalist Li Xuemei), the prize-award ceremony for 2009 Annual “Guardian of the Earth Prize” was held by the UN Environment Program on the 22nd of April in Paris France. The artwork “Urgency of the Pole” by Chinese sculptor Yuan Xikun was as specially appointed prize-up awarded to seven prize-winning organizations and individuals.
The“Guardian of the Earth Prize”was set as a prize in 2004. It is going to be awarded every year to those individuals and the collective who’ve made outstanding contributions to the preservation of environment and for sustainable development. The prize-winners won’t get any prize in cash but instead a specially designed cup from the UN Environment Program. This year’s prize cup is a miniature glass-sculpture <Urgency of the Pole> created by Yuan Xikun. The base of the artwork is the earth which is getting warmer and warmer and the upper part a tilting melting iceberg. On the top of the iceberg there are two little polar bears which, seriously alarmed, are clinging tightly on the back of their helpless mother. The original work of the sculpture, made of brass weighing some 3 tons, was recently contributed by the sculptor to the United Nations Environment Program.
At the prize-awarding ceremony that evening, Achim Steiner, vice secretary general, the executive chief of the UN Environment Program gave a special introduction to the creative significance of the artwork by Yuan Xikun. It has won the warm applauses from the guests present on the occasion. Besides, Yuan Xikun, a specially invited guest awarded a prize-cup for Erik Solheim, one of the prize-winners who’s a Norwegian department minister in charge of environment and foreign aid.
Yuan Xikun told the journalist he began to pay attention to environment preservation ever since eight or nine years of age. The sculpture work expressed his sympathy for the polar bear and worries about the greenhouse effect which is deteriorating from day to day. He holds that the polar bear is on the top-level of the food-chain. If their substance gets threatened it indicates that the eco-environment on the earth has been in imminent danger.
As Yuan Xikun put, it the <Urgency of the Pole>, chosen as prize-cup for the “Guardian of the Earth” was not only a praise of the int’l community for his personal achievement in the art field but also recognition of the efforts China has exerted for the environment preservation. Therefore, he calls on all circles in society to take a good care of the environment and follow the road of sustainable development.
This year, Yuan Xikun, at his 65 years of age, is now the curator of Beijing Jintai Art Museum. He has sculptural dozens of world personages, such as Pierre de Coubertin and Samaranch and some others.

Paris le 22 avril (par journaliste LI Xuemei) Le 22 avril, a eu lieu à Paris, France, la cérémonie de la remise du « prix des défenseurs de la terre» 2009 distribué par l’Agence de la planification pour l’environnement de l’ONU. La statue « urgence en zone polaire », crée par le sculpteur chinois YUAN Xikun, désignée comme la coupe spéciale, a été distribuée aux sept institutions et individus honorés.
Le « prix des défenseurs de la terre », établi en 2004, est distribué chaque année aux institutions ou individus ayant apporté des contributions tangibles à la protection de l’environnement et au développement soutenu. Les primés ne peuvent pas toucher la prime en espèce, mais sont décernés d’une coupe spécialement conçue de l’Agence. La coupe de cette année est la version réduite vernie de la sculpture créée par YUAN Xikun « urgence en zone polaire », au thème pro-environnemental : En bas, terre en réchauffement continu, en haut, montagne glacière fondant et inclinant, sur la montagne, deux oursons en plein désarroi, collant le dos de leur maman ne pouvant rien faire. L’œuvre originale faite du bronze blanc, 3 tonnes, a été récemment offerte à l’Agence par l’auteur.
A la cérémonie de la remise du prix dans la soirée, le secrétaire général adjoint de l’ONU et directeur exécutif de l’Agence Achim Steiner a notamment présenté M. YUAN Xikun et la signification de son œuvre, il a gagné des applaudissements sympathiques des invités présents. Par ailleurs, en tant qu’un invité de prestige, YUAN Xikun a remis le prix au ministre norvégien de l’environnement et de l’aide à l’étranger Erik Solheim, un des honorés.
YUAN Xikun a dit aux journalistes, il a commencé à prêter son attention aux problèmes environnementaux dès l’âge de 8 et 9 ans. Sa sculpture exprime sa compassion aux ours et son inquiétude pour les effets de serre. Il trouve que l’ours se situe à la dernière chaîne alimentaire. Si sa vie est menacée, cela prouve que l’environnement écologique de la terre est au bord du danger imminent.
Le choix de sa statue « urgence en zone polaire » comme la coupe du « prix des défenseurs de la terre », a-t-il dit, est une appréciation de ses succès artistiques et aussi une affirmation des efforts faits par la Chine dans le pro-environnement. Il a appelé à différents milieux sociaux à protéger l’environnement et à suivre la voie du développement durable.
M. YUAN Xikun, âgé de 65 ans cette année, est conservateur du musée des arts Jintai de Beijing. Il a sculpté les statues pour Coubertin, Samaranch et une trentaine de personnalités mondiales.

La obra de arte “Emergencia en el Polo”, del escultor chino Yuan Xikun, especialmente seleccionada como copa, fue entregada a siete personas y organizaciones ganadoras.
El Premio “Guardián de la Tierra” se creó en 2004 y se otorgará cada año a aquellas personas y colectivos que hayan hecho importantes contribuciones a la protección del medio ambiente y al desarrollo sostenible. Los ganadores no reciben ningún premio en metálico, sino una copa especialmente diseñada para el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA). La copa correspondiente a este año, creada por Yuan Xikun, es una miniatura en cristal. La base de esta obra de arte es un globo terráqueo que se calienta cada vez más. En la parte superior de éste se halla un iceberg inclinado que se derrite. Encima del iceberg, dos pequeños osos polares, seriamente alarmados, se afierran a la espalda de su indefensa madre. La escultura original, hecha en alpaca, pesa unas tres toneladas y fue entregada recientemente al PNUMA por el artista.
Durante la noche de premiación, el Sr. Achim Steiner, Subsecretario General de las Naciones Unidas y Director Ejecutivo del PNUMA, resaltó la significación especial de la obra creada por Yuan Xikun, que recibió calurosos aplausos del público presente en la ceremonia. Especialmente invitado para la ocasión, Yuan Xikun hizo entrega de la copa a uno de los ganadores, Erik Solheim, Ministro noruego de Medio Ambiente y Desarrollo Internacional.
Yuan Xikun dijo a la prensa que comenzó a prestarle atención a la protección del medio ambiente desde que tenía ocho o nueve años de edad. Su trabajo escultórico expresa su compasión por los osos polares y su preocupación por el cada vez más serio efecto de invernadero. Considera que el oso polar se halla en la parte superior de la cadena alimenticia. Si su hábitat se ve amenazado, será indicativo de que el equilibrio ecológico del planeta se encuentra en peligro.

Por consiguiente, el artista hizo un llamado a la comunidad internacional para cuidar el medio ambiente y continuar por el camino del desarrollo sostenible.
El Sr.Yuan Xikun, de 65 años de edad, es el director del Museo de Arte Jintai de Beijing. Ha hecho esculturas de un gran número de celebridades de todo el mundo, como Pierre de Coubertin y Juan Antonio Samaranch.

Parigi il 22 aprile (giornalista Li Xuemei): Si è tenuta il 22 aprile a Parigi la premiazione del Premio “la Guradia della Terra” 2009 dell’Unep (l’agenzia delle Nazioni Unite per la realizzazione del programma ambientale). Per l’occasione, in qualità della coppa di premiazione, l’opera dello scultore cinese Yuan Xikun, “Urgenza della regione polare”, è stata consegnata a 7 vincitori tra organizzazioni e individui.
Il premio “Guardia della Terra”, stabilito nel 2004, viene consegnato ogni anno a individui o collettivi che hanno dato distinti contributi alla tutela ambientale e allo sviluppo sostenibile. Inoltre i vincitori non vengono incoraggiati con i soldi, ma con una coppa speciale disegnata dall’Unep. Quest’anno la coppa creata da Yuan Xikun è in realtà una miniatura di vetro della sua statua dal tema ambientale “Urgenza della regione polare”. Il fondo dell’opera è una Terra che diventa sempre più calda, sopra c’è un iceberg che si sta sciogliendo. Sull’iceberg, due orsi polari impauriti che stanno sul dorso di loro madre. La statua originale, donata recentemente all’Unep, è stata realizzata da bronzo bianco, peso 3 tonellate.
Durante la cerimonia di premiazione la sera dello stesso giorno, il vice segretario generale dell’Onu, direttore dell’Unep Aichm Steiner ha illustrato l’artista Yuan Xikun e la sua idea della creazione, ottenendo calorosi applausi dei presenti. Inoltre in qualità di un ospite speciale, Yuan Xikun ha consegnato la coppa ad uno dei vincitori, il ministro per l’Ambiente e le Assistenze all’estero norvegese Erik Solheim.
Per l’occasione Yuan Xikun ha detto ai giornalisti che dall’età di 8-9 anni, egli aveva già iniziato a prestare attenzione alla tutela ambientale, questa statua esprime la sua simpatia all’orso polare e le sue preoccupazioni al fenomeno di gas-serra sempre più grave. Egli ritiene che l’orso polare è al livello più alto della catena alimentare. La minaccia alla sopravvivenza dell’orso polare dimostra la grave situazione dell’ambiente ecologico della Terra.

Париж, 22 апреля (корр. Ли Сюемэй) 2 февраля в Париже Франции состоялась церемония раздачи премий “Защитникам Глобуса”на 2009 год, которую проводила Палата экологии и планирования ООН. Произведение китайского скульптора Юань Сикуня ”SOS Полюса”
в качестве особо назначенной премии-бокалы была раздана лауреатам -- организациям и личностям.
“Премия защитников Глобуса”учредилась в 2004 году, которая ежегодно раздана личностям и коллективам, внесшим особый вклад в дело защиты окружающей среды и продолжительного развития. Лауреаты не могут получить вознаграждение наличными, но могут получить премию-бокалу, специально спроектированную Палатой экологии и планирования. Премия-бокала на этот год – стеклянная миниатюра скульптуры “SOS “Планеты”,созданной Юань Сикунем темой защиты окружающей среды. На дне скульптуры потеплевший Земной шар. В верхней части – наклонный и растаянный ледовик, на котором обе белые медвежонки, крепко держа ножками за спину их беспомощной матери. Оригинал скульптуры сделан из мельхиора весом в 3 тонны, который недавно ее автор привез в дар в Палату экологии и планирования.
На церемонии выдачи премий, состоявшейся в тот же день вечером, Вице-Геранальный секретарь и исполнительный директор Палаты экологии и планирования ООН Ахим Штэйна особо рассказал гостям о г-не Юань Сикуне и концепции его произведения, что вызвало бурные аплодисменты у присутствоваших гостей. Кроме того, г-н Юань Сикунь еще в качестве специально приглашенного гостя выдал премию-бокалу одну из лауреатов – Министру экологии и по делам оказания помощи Норвегии г-ну Солгейму.
Юань Сикунь сказал корренсподенту, что он с 8-9 лет уже стал внимательно следить за вопросом экологии. Эта скульптура отразила его симпатию к белым медведям Северного Полюса и его озабоченность о все более суровой реакции теплиц. Он считает, что белые медведи Северного Полюса находятся в верхней части цепи продуктов питания. Der " Hüterin der Erde" wurde als Preis im Jahr 2004.
